Sensei Andrew Goldberg

Sensei Andrew Goldberg is a 3rd Degree Black Belt Instructor with over 20 years of experience as a martial artist. Besides his own training, he has been a professional martial arts instructor for over 15 years. In addition to managing the business operations of several successful martial arts studios on Long Island, he is also the founder and sole instructor of Supreme Martial Arts. He founded the school in 2017 when he realized that his one-on-one and small-group students were learning and progressing faster than the children in his larger classes.

He began training at age 13 for the same reason many of his students come to him now – bullying. Although he was academically successful and an avid swimmer, his smaller size made him a target. He avoided school sports and, in his words, “struggled socially.” Thankfully, his mother enrolled him in a local martial arts program, and his confidence started to build soon after.

Though no one knew it at the time, that decision to learn martial arts proved life changing. After four years of dedicated practice, Andrew earned his first Black Belt. Since then, he’s studied Jeet Kune Do, the martial art and philosophy of the late Bruce Lee, and subsequently earned his certification as an instructor from the Inosanto International Martial Art Instructors Association. But even more importantly, Sensei Andrew had found his true passion – sharing his martial arts knowledge with others!

“I love teaching children martial arts, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. They say, ‘if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life’ – and it’s true! Children have such unique and fun personalities. And I enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to present the material so that each child can learn the skills in their own individual way.”

His unique approach to teaching has provided numerous opportunities to instruct children at a variety of daycare, summer camp, religious school, and after-school enrichment programs. Further, he enjoys teaching private lessons and running birthday parties, as well as giving school talks on bully prevention, conflict avoidance, and character development. His teaching style creates a caring and nurturing environment allowing his students to fully express their individuality while maintaining the structure and respect inherent in a martial arts lesson.

Sensei Andrew has trained in various martial arts styles, including Karate, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Jeet Kune Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Combat Submission Wrestling, and Filipino Martial Arts. He has traveled to martial arts conventions and seminars around the country to train with the top trainers in the martial arts industry. Knowing the value of taking private lessons, he currently travels regularly to Brooklyn to take private instruction with a Muay Thai kickboxing coach and receives private instruction with a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach as well.

Supreme Martial Arts has many clients throughout Nassau County who benefit from the convenience and tailored instruction of one-on-one and small-group private lessons in the comfort of their homes. Supreme Martial Arts also provides specialized martial arts programs to several childcare centers on Long Island.

“I have sat through countless classes watching Sensei Andrew with all the different types of students. One thing that particularly impresses me is his professionalism and his unwavering patience with each child…. It is clear that he takes his job as a Sensei very seriously, and that he cares for and loves all of his students very much.”
